Description
English: Persian Gulf (Aug. 16, 2005) - Aviation Machinist’s Mate 2nd Class Ray Deanda assigned to the “Mighty Shrikes” of Strike Fighter Squadron Nine Four (VFA-94) performs maintenance on the vertical stabilizer of an F/A-18 Hornet in the hangar bay aboard the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier USS Nimitz (CVN 68). The Nimitz Strike Group is currently on a regularly scheduled deployment and is participating in Maritime Security Operations (MSO). MSO set the conditions for security and stability in the maritime environment as well as complement the counter-terrorism and security efforts of regional nations. MSO deny international terrorists use of the maritime environment as a venue for attack or to transport personnel, weapons, or other material. U.S. Navy photo by Photographer’s Mate Airman Jason M.
